GuptChat

Terms of use

Last updated 23 October 2026

These are the terms for using the GuptChat app and the gupt.chat service ("GuptChat", "we"). They are short on purpose. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.

In short

  • Be fair to others: no spam, harassment, scams or illegal content.
  • Accounts that break the rules may be suspended or removed.
  • Keep your password and backup phrase safe: there is no phone number or email to recover an account with.
  • The service is provided as is. We work to keep it running and secure, but we cannot promise it will never fail.

1. The service

GuptChat is a messaging app for Android 7.0 or newer, distributed as an APK from gupt.chat. Use the app and this website only for what they are meant for: messaging, calling and sharing with people who want to hear from you.

2. Your account

Your account is a 6-digit Gupt ID and a password. You are responsible for keeping your password, your 12-word backup phrase and your phone safe. Because there is no phone number or email on the account, a forgotten password can only be reset with the backup phrase; we cannot recover an account without it.

You may hold up to 4 accounts on one phone. Your Gupt ID stays with your account. It changes only if you ask for a VIP or VVIP number and we assign it; your previous number then goes back into the pool. A deleted account's Gupt ID is never reissued.

3. Fair use

Do not use GuptChat to:

  • send spam, bulk or automated messages, or add people to groups and channels who have not asked to be added;
  • harass, threaten, deceive, impersonate or scam anyone;
  • share content that is illegal where you or the recipient are, or that you have no right to share;
  • interfere with the service: probing or overloading the server, bypassing its limits, or distributing modified copies of the app.

Anyone can report a user or a message from inside the app. Reports are reviewed.

4. Suspension and removal

Accounts that break these terms may be suspended or removed, with or without notice, depending on how serious the breach is. We may also remove public channels or content that break them. If you think a decision was wrong, tell us from inside the app.

5. Your content

What you send stays yours; we claim no rights to it. The server stores messages and files only to deliver them, in the locked form described in the privacy policy, and deletes them as that policy says.

6. The service is provided as is

GuptChat is provided as is and as available. We work to keep it running and secure, but we do not promise that it will always be available, free of faults, or that every message will be delivered. The new encryption in version 1.0.9 has not yet had an independent security review; the privacy policy describes what the server can and cannot see. Features may change, be added or be withdrawn.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, GuptChat is not liable for loss or damage that comes from using the app or from being unable to use it, including lost messages, lost access to an account for which no backup phrase was kept, or the actions of other users. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top says when. Using GuptChat after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Contact

In the app: Settings → Help & Support → Ask a question or Report a bug.
